This article is based on a paper read in memory of prof PJ (Hans) Visser at UP on

2007-07-27. Prof Visser was a pioneer of education law. He was the first person in

SA to introduce an education law module in the curriculum of the LLB degree and

was also a founder member of the South African Education Law Association

(SAELA) and the Interuniversity Centre for Education law and Education Policy

(CELP). At the time of his death he was vice-chairperson of CELP. Thanks are due
