South African Sign Language workshops
During the period February - September 2013, workshops are being held for 98 educators from
schools for the deaf in Gauteng and 20 District officials from the Gauteng Department of Education.
The sign language being taught is a communicative language.

Pre Grade R practitioners are attending workshops on curriculum and 'Learn not to burn'.
Training sessions take place every second Saturday. 377 practitioners from each of the 5 metros
are taking part.
NQF Level 4 for ECD Practioners
Mid April saw some 900 Early Childhood Development practitioners beginning with
the NQF Level 4 qualification. These practitioners are representative of all 5 Metros.
Facilitator Certificate Ceremony
Certificate Ceremony - Facilitator Course- Unit Standard:117871
Facilitate Learning using a variety of given methodologies
Forty-one facilitators were certificated at this ceremony which was held on 30 April 2013 in the auditorium at MGSLG.
The Keynote Address was presented by Ms Elizabeth Thobejane (DDG:GCRA)

The Matthew Goniwe Annual Memorial Lecture took place on 23 November 2012 at the Benoni Campus of MGSLG, in the newly named Zandile Kunene-Mbeje Memorial Hall.
The title of the address was:
"Is access to education as enshrined in the Bill of Rights unconditional: A realistic goal or pie in the sky?"
