How to support your child in school

PDFPrintE-mail

Parents, or those responsible for learners in school, are invited to participate in workshops to provide them with tools to support their children. Workshops will be conducted ove the week-end and target the 1 183 under-performing primary and secondary schools in the province. The work-shops look at the kind of support that parents (even those with little schooling) can provide with homework, discipline, participation in other schooling activities such as sports, drama etc.

Parents, together with educators and children, play an important role in enabling each learner to leave our ibnstitutions with the values, knowledge, skills and qualifications that will give them the best chances of success in adult life.

The GDE is focusing its academic and infrastructure support to these schools. Educators have been receiving further training to improve results from these schools. However, parents need to be highly involved and participate in the education of their children.
